I think this is my favourite Christmas craft of the season and again, super simple- vintage tart tins turned into tree ornaments. This craft is so easy, but the outcome looks elegant and classy, I can just imagine these on the tree in the hall of a beautiful chateau in France.
I’ve been collecting these tart tins for a few months, I picked up a couple of sets from Facebook marketplace and I actually got a bit carried away and now have around 60 of them (I’ll need some more craft ideas for those!). I made sure to pick up ones that have a “centre”, you  do get some that are small cute shapes but I needed to make sure I’d be able to put a photo on the inside as I wanted to add photos of my family to the inside to hang on my tree.
The tart tins are all vintage, you can get new ones but I wanted ones with a bit of age to them, I managed to find different sizes and shapes, which look really great mixed together.
I have a little stash of old jewellery that I have dismantled and use in my crafts, I gathered some of the metal pieces that would add to the vintage look. It’s a great way to re use old broken and tarnished jewellery.
I simply glued on the jewellery pieces using super glue, I always use “serious glue” because its non toxic and you have a good 5 minutes to be able to move it around as well, but it holds everything in place!
I then punched a hole through the tins using my crop-a-dile big bite punch, I would however suggest you do this before you glue on your jewellery, I learnt the hard way it makes it even harder to wiggle the the tart tin in the small gap.
I printed small photos of family members and attached them to the inside with double sided tape, to kind of create our very own family tree at Christmas
I then added some ribbon in muted Christmas tones and ta-da vintage Christmas tree decorations fit for any French chateau.
I really enjoyed creating these, not only was it really easy but me and my Mum sat and did these one afternoon last week, we had homemade sausage rolls (a practice run for Boxing Day- they were so good!) and classic Christmas music playing, it was the perfect Christmas afternoon.
What do you think of these ornaments? Would you like to make these?
Much Love
