This post has been in my drafts for a few weeks now. The weather had started to get cooler, and it was raining outside, it was the perfect time for a clean and to swap out all the colourful florals for rusty leaves and pumpkins… but then we had a heatwave, and even though my house looked all cosy for autumn, it was way too hot to be sharing autumn decor! However the heatwave has passed, my autumn dresses are back, and I’m ready to share with you my kitchen autumn decor. This post is very photo heavy, so hopefully something will catch your eye and give you a little inspiration!

I love this this season for how beautiful nature is, and so I tend to go more towards decor inspired by nature, rather than ghouls and spooks!

I added some of this beautiful subtle mint green colour, to help tie it in with the wallpaper we have in parts of the kitchen. I used a simple green cloth, faux eucalyptus and painted a couple of pumpkins and a milk churn. If you are in the UK, I got my pumpkins from one below last year, but they do have them again this year. The smaller pumpkin sprigs are from The Range.

I have mixed a lot of antique white pottery into my autumn decor, I think keeps it away from trying to be spooky and has a more of a classic feel to it. Even if you don’t own any antique pottery, the shops are filled with neutral pots and plates, and I’ve seen so many white pumpkin mugs as well! Don’t forget to check your charity shops too! It’s always good to purchase things you will reuse every year. Being able to use it, and then pop away at the end of a season, helps to make it feel like new to you again, when you get them out the next year, and then you may not feel the need to buy again!

I have quite a collection of old books, and you don’t have to search far for them, charity shops always have them for cheap. I pick out covers to match my decor tones and pop them into my little set ups. I also like to collect old tins, and again use them when the colours suit the season (it gives me an excuse to buy more, when we have no more room, as I swap them in and out based on the season)

Some of my decor is out all year, but because I change the colour around it, it never looks the same. I kind of have staple pieces, that help me to always know where to start and position everything, as those are my “safe” pieces.

Apart from the little pumpkin picks, I’ve really not purchased anything new this year, I invested in a lot of leafy foliage last year from a florist who was closing down, and I bought all my little pumpkins last year too. I think every year it’s just a case of rearranging differently, and adding in my antique pieces to keep it fresh, and like I said, changing for the seasons always refreshes the house, and creates a different feel, and this is certainly feeling more cosy!
