If you’ve been following on social media, you will know I recently discovered that the room I was going to be using for my craft room, still had the original hearth, as well as the most amazing floorboards hidden under the carpet. This led me to not only pulling up all the carpet, but also spending my week stripping the fireplace and restoring it to its former glory (but that is definitely going to be for it’s own blog post!). I’d been dying to get my hands on this room and start decorating it, all of my craft supplies have been piled into boxes since we moved, and with the holiday season coming up, I needed to have my craft room decorated and ready for all the festive crafting I have planned.

This room was really rough, the before photo at the end of the post does not show how rough it was. It had lots of different shades of paint on the walls, holes in the walls and doors, original windows that needed a lot of work, and of course a fireplace with 8 layers of different paint.

This was a room I had envisioned since the day I viewed the house, I’d always wanted a craft room, and my dream craft room was finally going to be mine. I’d planned for it to not be your usual craft room but for it to have a rustic, victorian feel to this room, filled with my craft supplies and vintage curios. Over the summer I had picked up a beautiful antique wardrobe (to hide all the practical but not so pretty things), as well as a set of wooden engineer drawers and a set or architect drawers. I had gone back and forth for months over what colours, or wallpaper I should use, but after restoring the fireplace and discovering the wonderful wooden floor, I decided to paint the room magnolia and let the furniture do the talking….and here’s the final result!

Like any other room, this is the start of something that will grow and change with me. I already have a list of things to work on such as some shelving to display curios, dress the fireplace differently, and to also frame some of my antique french magazines and hang them along the back wall. I really am delighted with this room, I finally have my dream craft room!

What do you think, did I manage to bring a charm back to this room?

Much Love
