You all know, I love a thrift, so with a huge house to fill with furniture, there was no question we would be hitting the charity stores, Facebook marketplace and gumtree. So when my Mum sent me the link to this french style cabinet, I just knew I needed it. The cabinet comes in two pieces so it meant we could *just* fit it into my car in two trips, and I have to admit, the house we picked it up from was small, and filled with large furniture, so carrying this out and dodging everything, literally killed us, but it was completely worth it. It does have a handle missing but we have one to replace that, so that was no big deal. It has a beautiful crackled paint finish, which I think is the reason why the person selling it had it listed at £80, as she thought it needed repainting, but of course that is the exact paint finish it should be. I honestly cannot wait to style this unit, and it has completely set the tone for the living room.

Our house will have a vintage/ rustic/ victorian feel to it, but our living room definitely has a more French Marie Antoinette nod to it, with the peach tone and white french furniture. Of course the room is very empty at the moment, so you may not be able to see my vision just yet, but this room has been totally transformed. It doesn’t really show on this photo, but gosh it was tired, different tones of neutral paint on the walls, cream/yellowing wood work, no wood work had been painted for 15 years, the corners of the room were grey from soot and the curtain rail was actually attached to the 120 year old window frames. It was just so tired, and run down, the before photo below actually really does it justice.

This room took us forever to paint, I swear we could have painted 3 normal sized rooms by the time we finished, and I feel like to anyone who came to see the house when we got it, would probably think jeeze it’s taking you ages, all you’ve done is painted a few rooms, but it’s all the tiny details, the edges, the filling, the sanding, the finishes – all those small things that make a huge difference but so easily looked over if you’re not looking at the house every day!

Our peach wallpaper is from B&Q, and we decided to go with wallpaper and not paint because we wanted the different tones and texture within the colour
This is our living room today, like I said its still empty, but its finally at that point I can start styling and adding all the details I have in my head. Our sofa should be here in a few weeks, so hopefully the next time I post, this room will be completely finished!
Much love
